Had my first accident in Bangkok traffic

Bangkok traffic accident

Holy shit! I just had my first accident in Bangkok traffic.

Nothing serious, but still scary as shit, and I got away from it without a scratch! 😀

The traffic in Bangkok is some of the wildest traffic in all of Asia. Damn. I’ve seen it all down here. Some of these motorbikes have an entire family on them. Two adults, 3 kids, an infant and a dog in the basket with a week of groceries. It’s no wonder why people die in the traffic as mayflies here…

Not only is the traffic total mayhem. But I see so many people speeding on big sport bikes.

Dying in a traffic accident is a sad way to go.. So fucking pointless.. Be careful!

When I was at Koh Pha Ngan, and took motorbike taxi one night. I almost shit myself when the driver drove that crazy hill road from Thong Sala to Haad Rin. It was so scary that I rented my own motorbike and drove it myself from then on…

By the way. That is a great tips if you want to survive in the traffic down here. Rent a motorbike and drive yourself. Especially in the smaller cities and on the Islands.

I know I can trust myself, I know I’m a good driver and I know I don’t drive to fast in the curves. I take it easy! But some of these motorbike-taxis are nothing more than a monkey with a language. They drive like absolute maniacs..

Anyways. My accident today…

I was taking a motorbike taxi, and I had a big heavy backpack on my back. It was basically filled with all my clothes because I’m changing apartment. My plan was to take a regular taxi, but there was a traffic jam so I had to jump on a motorbike..

I told the driver to take it easy on the throttle because I had big backpack. No problem he said.

Fast forward 5 minutes and the dude took full fucking throttle in an intersection. I didn’t have the strength to hold myself on the bike. So I tipped over and landed on my backpack on the asphalt. What the fuck…

Luckily I had the backpack on full of clothes so that took the impact pretty good..

What a fucking idiot that driver was.. I told him to take it easy on the throttle. But no, he forgot… ‘Mai bpen rai’ you know… Nothing is a problem or a concern before some shit actually happens…

What if there was a big truck behind us with poor brakes? What if I slammed my head in the asphalt? It’s not like these motorbike taxis bother to give you a helmet…

Scary shit..! Always take it easy in the traffic here. You never know when something bad happens. Remember that 99% of Thai people have that ‘map bpen rai’ attitude. They won’t think 2 seconds into the future when they are driving. No concern for anything before something actually happens.. Totally in the moment..

“ooohh. You fell off? Solly solly”.. No shit… I have fucking ton on my back, what did you think  would happen when you throttle like that..??

Anyways.. Take it easy in the traffic here. You never know when some shit happens. It can happen in a blink of an eye…
